Director Park Gyu-tae, who made the film ‘6/45’ a hit, is teaming up this time with the OTT platform Netflix. Can his new work ‘Husbands’ capture the world as well?

‘Husbands’ is an action-comedy that follows an unpredictable, large-scale rescue operation in which an ex-husband and a current husband end up joining forces to save a wife kidnapped by a crime syndicate. Park Gyu-tae, who showcased witty humor and inventive imagination as the screenwriter of ‘Dalmaya Nolja’ and ‘Baksu Geondal’ and as the director of ‘6/45’, is at the helm.

This time, he returns with the fresh setup of ‘cooperation between the ex-husband and the current husband’. From the ex-husband and the current husband, to a detective and a criminal, and even the bosses of new- and old-generation gangs. The intense comic synergy sparked as polar-opposite characters in different positions collide promises laughter born of director Park Gyu-tae’s signature ironic relationships and situations.

Park Gyu-tae said, “By adding the axis of confrontation between new- and old-generation bosses to the setup of cooperation between an ex-husband and a current husband, we made a comedy with even denser layers,” hinting at the unique fun of ‘Husbands’. He also said, “In a life-or-death situation where a family is kidnapped and must be saved, land, sea, and air action unfolding across all kinds of places will offer another kind of enjoyment,” raising expectations for an even more expansive action scale.

Additionally, production stills that whet the appetite for dynamic action unfolding against a variety of backdrops have been released, drawing attention. The sight of the ex-husband, Chung-sik (Jin Seon-gyu), and the current husband, Min-seok (Gong Myeong), huddled close together for support amid the biting cold of a frozen warehouse elicits laughs even in a tense situation, heightening anticipation for how the constantly clashing two husbands will break through the crisis. A rope-action scene scaling a high cliff at night evokes edge-of-your-seat suspense where you can’t relax for even a moment, and an urban chase with an overturned vehicle left behind suggests unrestrained action through vivid traces immediately after the collision.

Such dynamic, varied action unique to ‘Husbands​’ heralds an expanded scale and a richer visual spectacle, further boosting anticipation.
