Actor Sim Hoon-gi is joining a narrative film inspired by the 12.3 Emergency Martial Law.
The film ‘Emergency Martial Law 12.3’ (subtitle PM 10:24) is a work of fiction that reimagines, with artistic license, the emergency martial law situation of December 3, 2024. It is written and directed by Park Kyung-su, and the production company is IP Box Media1. The cast includes Gong Hyung-jin, Lee Sang-hoon, and Sim Hoon-gi, and principal photography is scheduled for 2026.
Sim Hoon-gi is an actor who has appeared in ‘Strong Girl Do Bong-soon’ and ‘Reply 1988’, among others. The character he plays, Commander Mo, once served as a military commander but became a civilian due to wrongdoing; drawing on his experience preparing for martial law during his service, he prepares for emergency martial law.
Gong Hyung-jin plays the president ‘Gye-yeong’. After a long hiatus, he chose this project for his comeback. The story depicts how a former prosecutor general enters politics, becomes president, and arrives at the decision of emergency martial law. Casting for the key role of ‘Geun-hee’ is underway through a closed audition.
Cinematography will be led by director of photography Jang A-ram. The production company plans a crowdfunding campaign to raise the budget. The film is on the verge of full-scale shooting.
