Actor Yoon Soi has transformed into a bona fide restaurant owner by launching a grilled-fish specialty shop in Seongsu-dong, Seoul. On the 11th, a video titled “Are restaurants opened by celebrities really good? The conclusion after eating through the entire menu” was posted on the YouTube channel ‘PDC by PDC’. The video revealed Yoon Soi’s intense start-up journey and her candid thoughts, as she personally grills fish in a wood-fired oven and even handles service on the floor.
Drawing on her past experience running a jokbal shop, Yoon this time has put wood-fired grilled fish, spicy stir-fried pork, and bossam forward as her main menu items. Yoon explained her menu choices, saying, “Isn’t it hard to eat grilled fish at home? You have to grill it, it smells, and the fishy odor seeps into the dishes, so I wanted to offer food that people do not easily cook and eat at home.”
She particularly emphasized the care she put into selecting ingredients. She said, “For the grilled fish, we narrowed down three to four suppliers and conducted blind tests,” and added that for the spicy stir-fried pork she uses her mother’s recipe that has been used for 30 years.

Currently keeping busy with live home-shopping broadcasts related to clothing, parenting, and recently even filming short-form dramas, Yoon smiled about the difficulties of balancing filming and running the business, saying, “It is fine when I do it together with the people in the kitchen and on the floor.”
The decisive reason she once again chose the demanding path of opening a restaurant was none other than her child. She confessed, “Because my mother had run a restaurant since I was young, the psychological hurdle of a ‘restaurant’ was low for me,” and said, “After my child entered elementary school, I always had the thought of wanting to run a restaurant again, but as I grew older I found myself shrinking, imagining situations that had not yet happenedwhether my stamina would hold up, what if business did not go well, and so on.”
Yoon continued, “For my child to grow into someone who contributes to the world, I need to set an example, but what I feared most was that I might appear to be a lazy parent or a cowardly parent who hesitates to take on challenges. All the strength to be bold and courageous comes from my child.”
