SBS ‘Brave New World’
A shocking twist surrounding Shin Se-ri and Kang Dan-sim was revealed.
In episode 12 of SBS’s Friday-Saturday drama ‘Brave New World,’ aired on the 13th, it was revealed that Shin Se-ri (Lim Ji-yeon) was the ‘real Shin Se-ri,’ whose soul had been switched more than a decade ago.
Episode 12 of ‘Brave New World’ hit a peak of 12.8%, with 11.0% in the capital region and 10.5% nationwide, once again renewing its own record. It also ranked No. 1 among Saturday miniseries as well as across all weekly miniseries, and in the 2049 ratings it peaked at 3.98% with an average of 3.4%, claiming the top spot not only among all Saturday broadcasts but across all programs aired throughout the week. The episode opened with a sweet night together between Shin Se-ri and Cha Se-gye (Heo Nam-jun). Se-gye bared his heartfelt feelings, saying, “Everyone chases money, fame, and status; I thought I had to grab hold of something, anything, just to get by. But now I know what really matters. It’s just you, that’s all I need,” which left Se-ri choked up.
However, hints that Se-ri’s return to Joseon was imminent heightened the tension. Watching Se-gye dream of a happy future with her, Se-ri felt weighed down by the thought that she might have to return to Joseon at any moment.
Even in her dreams, the body’s rightful owner appeared and delivered a chilling warning: “You’re just a fake. Get out of my body.” Waking from the nightmare in tears, Se-ri resolved to leave Se-gye with only good memories in the time she had left.
However, mindful of the young Se-gye who had long waited for the mother who left, Se-ri finally confessed honestly, “I’m going back. To where I was,” and Se-gye could not accept Se-ri’s sudden notice of farewell.
Se-gye, choking up, said, “You’ve made me a fool who lives with his teeth clenched, seeing only you,” then added, “No, you can’t go. I’m not letting you goget that straight,” and stormed off. Left alone, Se-ri burst into the tears she had been holding back, saying, “I don’t want to go either. I want to stay by your side,” drawing attention to where their romance will head.
Meanwhile, Geum Bosal (Oh Min-ae) realized that the person she had seen in a ritual mirror was different from the Se-ri of today. Then, after Se-ri found traces of her childhood self at Ok-sun’s restaurant and felt a strange sense of dj vu, she vividly recalled her childhood memories with Ok-sun and recognized that she was the ‘real Shin Se-ri,’ delivering a shock.
Overwhelmed by a surge of emotion, Se-ri said, “I’m not a fakemy name is….” Just then, she dashed out of the restaurant and came face-to-face with hired demolition workers awaiting orders, and the sight of Se-gye running to stop them closed the episode, heightening curiosity about what comes next.
Attention now turns to the final two episodes to see what ending awaits their romance that transcends time and space.
