Kim Dong-wan, a member of the group Shinhwa, expressed his feelings about the controversy surrounding him on SNS (social networking service).

On the 14th, Kim Dong-wan posted a lengthy message on his SNS. He said, “I recently consulted with a marketer described as the top in the industry,” adding that he heard words that gave him insight.

He wrote, “When something is ruined because of my mistake, it does not simply end with me being scolded and criticized; I have only now come to realize that it affects the people devoted to that work and even their families.”

He continued, “Since the topic of algorithms came up, from now on I will not bother to read or view posts that could be problematic. Life is short enough even just to take in good writing and joyful things. Above all, I intend to do so in order to properly shoulder the responsibility I have taken on.”

Through SNS, Kim publicly supported the broadcaster MC Dingdong, who had been lying low after a DUI and then became embroiled in a controversy over assaulting a female BJ, and he also engaged in a public war of words with his former manager. He further stirred controversy by expressing the conviction that prostitution should be legalized.

As the controversy spread, Kim said, “I extend my deep apology to everyone who may have felt uncomfortable due to the recent matters. If my words and actions caused discomfort, that is entirely my responsibility,” adding, “I should have been more prudent, and I am sincerely reflecting. From now on, I will take greater responsibility for each and every word and action,” and bowed his head.
