American singer Oliver Tree, who died in a helicopter collision. Age 32.

Oliver Tree (Oliver Tree Nickell), an American singer who had faced criticism from K-pop fans for using a composite image that incorporated the late SHINee member Jonghyun's funeral photo, died in a helicopter collision.

According to foreign media on the 14th local time, two helicopters collided and crashed over Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and all six people on board were killed. Oliver Tree was among the passengers.

The Rio de Janeiro state police public affairs office is currently investigating the cause of the accident and is conducting identification procedures for the remains of the deceased.

Oliver Tree is known for songs such as ‘Life Goes On’(Life Goes On) that circulated on TikTok, and at the time of the accident he was reportedly in the middle of a world tour spanning seven continents with around 70 shows.

In 2019, he posted a tour promotional image on his YouTube community that combined the late Jonghyun's funeral photo, drawing criticism from K-pop fans. At the time, he apologized but also responded to protesting K-pop fans with harsh profanity. He eventually posted a second apology, but criticism continued that the apology was insufficient.
