Cartoonist Heo Young-man will suspend all activities for the time being due to health issues.
Heo Young-man Co., Ltd. issued a statement on the 17th, saying, “Recently, Cartoonist Heo Young-man experienced health problems and is currently focusing on treatment and recovery in line with medical advice,” and added, “Accordingly, he will suspend all external activities for the time being and take rest.”
It continued, “For TV Chosun ‘Sikgaek Heo Young-man Baekban Journey,’ it was decided, in consultation with the production team, to conclude Season 1,” and added, “We deeply thank the production team and cast who have made the program together over the past seven years, and the viewers.”
‘Sikgaek Heo Young-man Baekban Journey’ is a food-and-travel variety show that first aired in May 2019, and has been loved for its format in which Heo, together with guests, visits long-standing eateries and set-meal places nationwide to share stories tied to the food.
Born in 1947, Heo is a master of Korean comics who debuted in 1974 and left numerous signature works including ‘Bridal Mask,’ ‘Tazza,’ ‘Sikgaek,’ and ‘Fly, Superboard.’ Even this April, at age 78, he began a new comic serialization, continuing active work.
