The general programming cable channel JTBC announced that it had resolved the nonpayment of appearance fees for flagship variety programs such as ‘Knowing Bros’ and ‘Please Take Care of My Refrigerator’.

On the 8th, JTBC stated, “We obtained court approval last week and completed payment for dispatch commissions and service fees that had remained unpaid due to court approval procedures,” and added, “Based on the recently approved comprehensive authorization, we also completed, today, payment for appearance fees for certain variety programs and for external production costs that had remained unpaid.”

It continued, “We apologize to the cast members and partner companies for the unavoidable delay in the payment schedule while waiting for the court decision.”

On the 12th of last month, JTBC declared a default (default) after failing to repay debt totaling $15,450,000 (20,600,000,000 KRW) and then applied to the court to commence rehabilitation proceedings. Subsequently, following major affiliates including JoongAng Holdings, ContentreeJoongAng, JoongAng P&I, and MegaboxJoongAng, JTBC has also filed for corporate rehabilitation.

As a result, nonpayment of appearance fees occurred for cast members of JTBC flagship variety programs such as ‘Knowing Bros’, ‘Please Take Care of My Refrigerator’, and ‘Divorce Deliberation Camp’.

In response, the Korea Broadcasting Actors Union (hereinafter, the union) issued a statement on the 6th, asserting, “Since JTBC applied for corporate rehabilitation, damage to broadcast actors has reached a serious level,” and, “Production of numerous pieces of content has been halted, and payment of appearance fees has also been delayed for an extended period.”
