Actor Jung Seung-gil announced that he is joining the weekend drama ‘Apartment’.

JTBC’s new SaturdaySunday drama ‘Apartment’ (directed by Cho Yong-won, written by Kim Yoon-young) is a slice-of-life human drama that follows Park Hae-gang, a former boss of the Oasis faction who runs in the election for head of the residents’ council to seize hidden money inside the apartment complex, as he joins residents to root out corruption.

Jung Seung-gil joins as ‘Choi Young-jae,’ the management office director who oversees administration and operations at the 9,800-household mega-complex ‘True Value State Apartment.’ In a middleman position that must handle the complex issues within the complex without friction, Choi Young-jae serves as a precarious buffer between the demands of those in power and the residents’ complaints.

It portrays the bittersweet struggles of an ordinary ‘goose father’ who, because he must frantically send living expenses every month to his three daughters studying abroad and to his wife, has no choice but to bow to pressure from the powerful. Drawing on his seasoned acting craft, Jung Seung-gil is expected to render Choi Young-jae’s complex inner life in a layered and realistic way.

Jung Seung-gil has delivered standout performances in numerous projects, including the dramas ‘Mr. Sunshine,’ ‘Be Melodramatic,’ ‘Agency,’ ‘Unknown Seoul,’ ‘Cashiero,’ and the film ‘Dream.’

In the recently concluded SBS series ‘Shin-i-rang Law Office,’ he won viewers’ strong affection as a steadfast ally anchoring the narrative, playing ‘Matteo,’ a priest who was formerly a shaman. In addition, he is currently meeting audiences on stage in the play ‘The Lives of Others,’ appearing again following the premiere production as East Germany’s foremost playwright ‘Georg Dreyman.’ As Jung Seung-gil shows a new face with every project, expectations are high for the realistic, everyday acting he will present in this work.

With Jung Seung-gil’s addition rounding out a solid lineup, JTBC’s new SaturdaySunday drama ‘Apartment’ will premiere at 10:40 p.m. on July 11.
