Actor Hwang Ha-jeong met audiences in person with the film ‘Nyeopi’, sharing candid stories about the work and behind-the-scenes from the shoot, and spent a meaningful time.

Following attendance at the opening-ceremony red carpet of ‘The 30th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival’ (BIFAN) on the 2nd, on the 5th Hwang joined the GV (conversation with the audience) held after the screening of ‘Nyeopi’, sharing a variety of behind-the-scenes tied to the work and communicating with the audience.

Hwang Ha-jeong received a question about Bit-na's deep affection for her on-screen partner Taepyeong and offered a personal interpretation of the character. Hwang said, “I thought Taepyeong was not someone who grumbled from the very beginning. I figured their current relationship was formed over a long six-year romance,” explaining the emotional arc of the character. Hwang continued, “I saw the footage for the first time today, and watching Taepyeong search for Bit-na to the very end, I actually thought maybe Taepyeong loved Bit-na more,” drawing laughter from the audience.

Hwang also shared a vivid episode from the on-location shoot in Bali. Hwang said, “The guide first told us, ‘Do not swear in Bali.’ They said there are many spirits, and if you swear, bad things could happen,” and added, “Even though I am Christian, strangely I felt scared while there, so I kept listening to CCM and even attended a Korean church,” creating a cheerful mood. Lastly, Hwang said, “Thank you so much for taking the time to come on a rainy day. I hope to greet you again through a variety of roles,” conveying heartfelt gratitude to the audience and wrapping up the GV to warm applause.

‘Nyeopi’ is an occult horror film in which young people who break a taboo on the most sacred day in Bali become entangled in a strange incident and confront hidden truths. Hwang Ha-jeong plays ‘Bit-na’, who goes on a trip to Bali with her boyfriend Taepyeong and finds herself at the center of a mysterious case.

As a cozy resort rapidly turns into a pandemonium of fear, the film delicately depicts the anxiety, confusion, and extreme terror the character feels, heightening immersion.

After a meaningful first meeting with audiences at the 30th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival, ‘Nyeopi’ will screen once more at 1:30 p.m. on July 10 at CGV Sopung Screen 4, and Hwang Ha-jeong will attend the post-screening GV again to share various stories about the work with the audience.
