A tribute stage marking the second anniversary of Hyun-chul’s passing will be presented.

The 29th episode of TV CHOSUN ‘Friday Struck by Gold’, airing on the 10th, will feature ten junior singers taking the stage for a meaningful tribute that conveys respect and gratitude to Hyun-chul, the ‘godfather of trot’.

On this day, Jin winner Kim Yong-bin recalls the special bond he had with Hyun-chul during his lifetime. Saying that he often visited Hyun-chul’s home, Kim notes, “His wife even made kimchi for me,” and shares an anecdote of Hyun-chul encouraging him with the words, “You will become the best singer,” adding to the poignancy.

The Super Catfish Singer also boasts a special connection to Hyun-chul. With a glittering career that includes rising alongside Hyun-chul as co-winner of the Singer King title in the past, they overwhelm the scene with an extraordinary presence from the moment they appear.

The Super Catfish Singer then directly singled out the Jin titleholder Yang Ji-eun and the Mi titleholder Oh Yoo-jin as opponents. Aiming at Yang Ji-eun in particular, they startled everyone with the sudden remark, “That kid really gets on my nerves.”

Yang Ji-eun chooses the mega-hit ‘Balsam Love’ that brought Hyun-chul the 1989 KBS Song Award, while Oh Yoo-jin selects ‘I Hate It, I Hate It’, which led to the honor of a second consecutive Song Award the following year. They will face off using two signature songs that placed Hyun-chul at the top of the music scene.

After watching the performances, the Super Catfish Singer pours out high praise for Yang Ji-eun, saying, “You remind me of myself in my younger days. You sing well and you are beautiful.” To Oh Yoo-jin, they exclaim, “You did not imitate the original; you interpreted it in your own style.”
