As MBC’s new FridaySaturday drama ‘Married Woman Killer’ unveiled its first teaser, disappointment continues among original fans over the casting of Jung Joon-won.

On the 9th, MBC released the first teaser video for its new FridaySaturday drama ‘Married Woman Killer’.

Based on the popular Kakao Webtoon of the same name, ‘Married Woman Killer’ portrays the double life of Yoo Bona (Gong Hyo-jin), an ordinary working mom who also lives as the legendary sniper ‘Kingfisher’.

The teaser intercuts intense scenes of Yoo Bona aiming a sniper rifle from a rooftop with her ordinary daily life alongside her husband Kwon Tae-seong (Jung Joon-won) and their daughter, hinting at a tone that moves between action and comedy. As Yoo Bona returns to being a killer after finishing parental leave and news announces the ‘Kingfisher comeback,’ anticipation grew.

However, after the teaser’s release, opinions among original fans online have been split regarding Kwon Tae-seong, the character played by Jung Joon-won.

In the original webtoon, Kwon Tae-seong is a character designated as an ‘officially handsome’ type with a polite and courteous personality. Since Yoo Bona also falls for his looks and they are depicted as an affectionate couple, readers have perceived him as a ‘flower-like man,’ a ‘good-looking nerd,’ and an ‘extremely handsome man.’

After the teaser dropped, some original fans expressed disappointment, saying, “The husband’s looks lack plausibility,” “Kwon Tae-seong is a character for whom appearance matters, but he’s different from the original image,” and “It’s not the actor’s fault, but the casting doesn’t fit the role.”

On the other hand, supportive comments continued: “It’s better than I expected,” “Acting well is more important anyway, isn’t it,” “Judging from the original drawings, he has a gentle look like Jung Joon-won’s image,” and “He looks handsome to me; the standards are too strict.”

Previously, in tvN’s ‘Someday, Wise Resident Life,’ when his love line with Go Yoon-jung was revealed, some early viewers reacted that “his look doesn’t match the art style.” However, as the episodes progressed, the charm of the character Gu Do-won stood out, and the ‘Ogu couple’ with Go Yoon-jung received great love, overturning initial concerns.

Similarly, right after the first teaser for ‘Married Woman Killer’ was released, original fans’ concerns continued, and attention is now on whether interpretations of the character and acting after the actual broadcast will change the evaluation.
