Singer Shin Ji put to rest suspicions of double-jaw surgery by revealing she has long suffered from a temporomandibular joint disorder.
On the 8th, a video titled ‘Honey.... what have you been feeding me all this time....?’ was released on the YouTube channel ‘How Are You?!?’. The video shows Shin Ji visiting a Korean medicine clinic with her husband Mun-won to have her health checked.
The production team asked Shin Ji, who was receiving acupuncture, whether her jaw joints were also in poor condition. In response, Shin Ji said that her jaw had been ground down so much that there was no cartilage on one side, and that although she received treatment because her malocclusion was very severe, it did not seem to have worked well. She added that as she gets older, her mouth is gradually curling inward, and that grinding her teeth while sleeping has pushed her jaw backward.
After examining the jaw area, the Korean medicine doctor said she had trismus, noted there were many problems, and explained that when there is a problem with the temporomandibular joint, the autonomic nervous system inevitably becomes unstable. In response, Shin Ji said she had once been told about surgery but heard it would leave scars; being a female entertainer, she worried she would be unable to continue activities, so she gave up on the operation.
Previously, as 45-year-old Shin Ji lost a significant amount of facial fat and her jawline appeared more pronounced, some online users raised suspicions of cosmetic procedures such as double-jaw surgery, saying her look seemed different and questioning whether she had undergone surgery.
Regarding this, Shin Ji expressed frustration, asking why people kept saying she had shaved her jaw and even challenging, addressing the doctor, whether this looked like a shaved jaw. She said she had heard far too many claims that she underwent rotational shaving, and added that people harshly criticized her, saying she had had her cheekbones reduced and her jaw shaved, and kept insisting she had had a nose job even though her nose is her own.
