The idol group BOYNEXTDOOR saw its first studio album sell 170,000 copies in Japan over June, demonstrating strong local popularity.
With its first studio album ‘HOME’, released on the 8th of last month, BOYNEXTDOOR ranked No. 2 on the Oricon June monthly album ranking in Japan. The album sold 170,902 copies locally during June, the highest placing among K-pop artists tallied in the same period.
‘HOME’ recorded 1,085,715 first-week sales (based on Hanteo Chart, counting album sales in the first week after release), achieving a fourth consecutive million-seller. It also entered the U.S. main albums chart, the ‘Billboard 200’ (dated June 27), at No. 16, marking a ‘career high’, and made the chart for six consecutive releases. The title track ‘VIRAL’ was the only June release to appear on the Melon monthly chart and was adopted as the official cheer song of the professional baseball club LG Twins.
‘HOME’ is an album that candidly unpacks the experiences and emotions the group went through from trainee days to after debut while promoting as ‘the boys next door’. For the first time, all members took part in songwriting, showcasing more mature musical capabilities.
Riding this momentum, BOYNEXTDOOR (Sungho, Riwoo, Myung Jaehyun, Taesan, Leehan, Woonhak) will carry the heat into its first world tour. They will hold ‘BOYNEXTDOOR TOUR ‘KNOCK ON Vol.2’ IN SEOUL’ at KSPO DOME in Seoul from the 17th to 19th, marking the start of the tour. All three shows sold out quickly as soon as pre-sale began on the 22nd of last month.
