The new KBS2 weekend drama ‘Love Is Coming’
“Could you be good only to me?”
Within the drama, the narrative unfolds of a man, Ha Seok-jin, who gave up everything for love, and a woman, Ahn Hee-yeon, who abandoned love for her family.
Set to premiere at 8 p.m. on the 25th, the new KBS2 weekend drama ‘Love Is Coming’ (director Hong Seok-gu / writer Lee Kyung-hee / production Monster Union, Contents G) is a family recipe drama about a man and a woman who gather the shards of a broken family to serve up the warmest feast of life.
The comprehensive teaser released on the 9th opens with Jang Seo-hyeon (played by Lee Joo-yeon) sharply asking, “Who is Han Gyu-rim? Is she really that great?”, and with the intense first encounter between Kim Moo-jin (Ha Seok-jin) and Han Gyu-rim (Ahn Hee-yeon). It immediately piques curiosity as Han Gyu-rim runs without hesitation to Park Soo-nam (Kang Ae-sim), who has collapsed at a bus stop, and Kim Moo-jin is drawn to her warm side.
Before the afterglow of their first meeting fades, the two begin a full-fledged connection as they start working part-time at the same place. As Kim Moo-jin watches Han Gyu-rim from nearby, unable to take his eyes off her, Park Jung-woo (Min Jin-woong) adds his amazement, “Kind, cute, and pretty does that even make sense?”, drawing even more attention to the charm Han Gyu-rim possesses.
By contrast, Kim Moo-jin raises laughs with his endearing clumsiness as he confides to his friend Park Jung-woo, “I live well. No, not just well I am chaebol-level, should I just lay it all out?” Despite his perfect looks and being a born chaebol, his unexpected charm a single-hearted devotion to only one woman instantly captures hearts.
Then, feeling a curious twinge of jealousy at the appearance of Jo Heung-sik (Bae Jung-nam), Kim Moo-jin blurts out a straight pitch: “Are you that good and kind to everyone? Could you be good only to me?”, which intercuts with a flustered Han Gyu-rim to infuse a pink current into living rooms.
Amid Han Gyu-rim’s exhausting daily life of hopping between part-time jobs without a break, a bitter confession flows: “Right now I am someone who has neither the time, nor the leeway, nor the heart to date.” Then, in succession, we see Han Gyu-yeong (Park Yoo-na) kissing a mysterious man, Han Gyu-oh (Bae Yoon-gyu) at the police station, Han Seok-jung (Ryu Seung-soo) injured, and Go Yoon-hee (Yoon Yoo-sun) with a complicated expression, conveying intact the harsh reality in which even romance has become a luxury for Han Gyu-rim.
Even so, Kim Moo-jin does not stop charging straight ahead. To Han Gyu-rim, who pushes him away when faced with the wall of reality, his gentle voice tickles the heart as he says, “Then Ms. Gyu-rim, just keep feeling butterflies for me.” In particular, his sudden confession, “It is fine if we do not get caught, and even better if we do,” ratchets up the romantic tension and stimulates dormant love cells.
However, an accident at a construction site involving Kim Moo-jin and his meeting with his older sister Kim Yoon-jin (Mi-ram) shake their relationship and heighten the tension. In the end, with tears welling, Han Gyu-rim pushes him away harshly, saying to Kim Moo-jin, “Unless you want to be stuck in the cesspool with me, hurry up and run,” a look that leaves the chest tight. Yet even in the face of this confession full of wounds, Kim Moo-jin asks gently, “Ms. Gyu-rim, may I hold you once?”, and the tender embrace as he pulls Han Gyu-rim tightly into his arms leaves a deep afterglow, further raising expectations for their romance.
The comprehensive teaser for ‘Love Is Coming’ balances laughter, flutter, and ache, and is ready to capture the hearts of home audiences. Attention is focused on what choices Han Gyu-rim, who gave up love for her family, and Kim Moo-jin, who abandoned everything for love, will make between the yoke of family and love.
