BigBrothers Co., Ltd., a company specializing in investment and distribution of cultural content, has significantly upgraded its proprietary cinema-dedicated ‘theater ticketing system’ and, starting with the opening of ‘Samcheok Cinema’ on the 1st, will launch a full-fledged push into the national market.
As the websites of individual theaters had been included within the websites of ticketing system companies, causing inconvenience for customers, and as theaters, operators, and local governments also faced difficulties in securing communication and marketing channels with customers, this solution is expected to address these issues and improve customer convenience and operational efficiency.
The enhancement of BigBrothers ticketing solution was completed by actively incorporating vivid on-site feedback from theaters that had piloted the system. It not only greatly increased the stability of the payment system, but also optimized the offline ticketing process and completely overhauled website design and user functions (UI/UX), dramatically improving convenience for both sellers and audiences.
A noteworthy change is the full-scale introduction of an on·offline simple payment system. Until now, at individual theaters or art cinemas, simple payment could often be used only in a limited way for online reservations, or on-site offline payment environments were inadequate, which frequently inconvenienced audiences. Focusing on this point, BigBrothers built an integrated system that allows easy payment on-site as well. Starting with the ‘Naver Pay’ service, it plans to sequentially expand adoption to major simple payment methods with high usage, such as ‘Apple Pay’. In addition, it revamped the system so that local currencies and specialized cards for each local government are smoothly integrated within the payment system, greatly strengthening accessibility for local residents.
Samcheok Cinema, which took its first step by adopting the solution, cited ‘independence’ as the biggest reason for choosing the BigBrothers system. A Samcheok Cinema representative said, “With a standalone website and reservation system unique to our theater and an independent membership structure, we can provide tailored marketing services specialized for audiences in the Samcheok area without relying on large multiplex platforms.”
They also cited, as a second reason, the high level of convenience of the ticketing system, which enables sellers to operate it easily after just one day of training for tasks such as sales, statistics, and screening registration.
They added, “By leveraging the characteristics of cinema websites, which have high access rates and loyalty among local residents, it can be naturally incorporated as a clean banner promotion channel for local governments or operators to inform residents about useful policies and news, so a twofold effect is expected.”
Having successfully completed this first-phase enhancement, BigBrothers plans to roll out full-fledged sales of the film ticketing system to theaters nationwide. Going beyond simply providing a ticketing system, based on the solid know-how it has accumulated as a cultural content investor·distributor, it plans to offer one-stop services to interested theaters, including film supply and support for marketing materials (promotional items). Furthermore, by linking an advertising agency business that utilizes various ad slots on each theater website, it also intends to help generate additional ancillary revenue for small and medium-sized cinemas.
