Global girl group KATSEYE has announced the release of its first theatrical documentary, ‘KATSEYE: WILD HEARTS’.
HYBE-Geffen Records announced on the 8th (local time) the upcoming release of the special documentary ‘KATSEYE: WILD HEARTS(KATSEYE: Wild Hearts)’, which chronicles the journey of KATSEYE. The film will screen in theaters worldwide starting August 12, with details on countries and theaters to be announced later.
‘KATSEYE: WILD HEARTS’ is the first theatrical documentary from the group, to be unveiled ahead of the release of its third EP, ‘WILD’. The film follows their growth from the days of ‘The Debut: Dream Academy’, when ordinary girls competed intensely to become members of KATSEYE, through to their steps onto the world stage. It also weaves in the special bond with the fandom EYEKONS(EYEKONS) that has walked this journey with them, promising an emotional experience.
The film includes previously unreleased behind-the-scenes cuts, videos sent directly by fans, and candid interviews with the members, offering a more three-dimensional look at the story of KATSEYE. Audiences will vividly experience the pressures and challenges, joys and setbacks, sacrifices and breakthroughs the group faced as they rose into a global pop group.
Veteran documentary makers have once again joined forces for this project. Interscope Films(Interscope Films) and Boardwalk Pictures(Boardwalk Pictures), which produced the Netflix series ‘Popstar Academy’ that chronicled the formation of KATSEYE, collaborated with HYBE-Geffen Records, and director Nadia Hallgren(Nadia Hallgren), who was nominated in four Emmy categories for the Netflix documentary on Michelle Obama, ‘Becoming(Becoming)’, took the helm.
The poster released alongside the news shows the KATSEYE members gathered in a cozy room, staring straight ahead. They may look like ordinary girls as they sit close together on a bed, but their intense eyes radiate pop star energy. At the top of the poster, the phrase ‘A Love Letter to the EYEKONS(A Love Letter to the EYEKONS)’ reveals their affection for fans.
KATSEYE is a team that debuted in 2024 based on the ‘Multi-home, multi-genre(Multi-home, multi-genre)’ strategy and the ‘K-pop methodology’ led by Chairman Bang Si-hyuk. In less than two years since debut, they quickly broadened their presence as a global group, gracing the stages of large-scale music festivals such as ‘Lollapalooza’ and ‘Coachella’ and major award ceremonies.
In May, at one of the three major popular music award ceremonies in the United States, the ‘2026 American Music Awards(American Music Awards)’, they won three awards including ‘New Artist of the Year(New Artist of the Year)’. The North America and Europe tour ‘THE WILDWORLD Tour’, which kicks off in September, sold out every date within 48 hours of tickets going on sale, demonstrating formidable global ticket power. Riding this momentum, KATSEYE will release its third EP, ‘WILD’, on August 14.
