“I felt great fulfillment and happiness!”

Actor Jeon So-min shared her thoughts on the conclusion of the run of the play ‘Lungs’.

As ‘Lungs’, in which Jeon So-min delivered an intensely emotional performance, came to a close, she conveyed heartfelt gratitude to everyone who had shared in the production.

On the 2nd, at Chungmu Art Center Middle Theater Black in Seoul, she successfully wrapped the final performance of the ninth production of the 20th-anniversary season (10) of Yeongeuk Yeoljeon, the play ‘Lungs(Lungs)’, bringing to an end a three-month journey.

Based on the novel of the same title by British playwright Duncan Macmillan, ‘Lungs’ unfolds over 90 minutes in panoramic form, using the private conversations of a man and a woman to explore questions surrounding contemporary society through their meeting and parting, pregnancy and miscarriage, birth and death across the lives of two characters.

In the play, Jeon So-min took on the role of the ‘Woman’, who constantly reflects and grows in the pursuit of becoming a better person. In a space with minimal set pieces and external mise-en-scene, together with Park Sung-hoon, Im Joo-hwan, and Kim Kyung-nam, who played the counterpart ‘Man’, she evoked decades of time using nothing but breath and dialogue. In particular, although the character is anxious and wavering yet presses on toward life, Jeon So-min was said to have rendered her circumstances and emotions with sincerity, dramatically heightening immersion through the nuanced delivery of lines and fluid changes in gaze and expression.

As if those efforts bore fruit, Jeon So-min drew audiences in from beginning to end by becoming one with the character, and she tied up the final performances amid a shower of praise.

Accordingly, to mark the end of ‘Lungs’, on the 4th Jeon So-min, via Makit Studio, shared her sincere thoughts about the work and character and expressed gratitude to the fellow actors and staff who were with her, as well as to the audience members and fans who had come to the theater.

Jeon So-min shared her meaningful reflections by saying, “From the cool days of spring to the sweltering height of midsummer, I am truly grateful to the audience members who made the precious trip to the theater for the play ‘Lungs’.” She continued, “I also want to express my thanks to the director, fellow actors, and staff who worked together from the first rehearsal to the final performance.”

She added, “Thanks to audience members who concentrated on and immersed themselves in the performances by the actors every time we stood on stage, I was able to summon strength to perform ‘Lungs’, and I felt great fulfillment and happiness. I will always strive to develop into a better version of myself as an actor, and I hope to meet you again through another fine work and character. Lastly, please take care of your health in the heat.”

Through the play ‘Lungs’, Jeon So-min, who radiated her hard-earned craft as an actor, is drawing growing interest in how she will reach the public and fans with her future activities.
