People who left malicious comments about G-Dragon, a member of the group Big Bang, were fined.
On the 4th, Galaxy Corporation, the agency representing G-Dragon, announced in a notice that “To protect the honor and rights of G-Dragon, we are continuing legal action against defamation, the spread of false information, insults, malicious slander, and infringements of personality and privacy that occur online.”
In February, Galaxy Corporation also said it would proceed with a large-scale complaint against more than 100 netizens who posted malicious comments.
The agency added, “In some cases, suspects had their criminal charges recognized and were forwarded to the prosecution or brought to criminal trial,” and “For multiple defendants, the court issued summary orders imposing fines ranging from $1,500 (2,000,000 KRW) to $5,250 (7,000,000 KRW).”
It continued, “Based on the evidence materials we have already secured, we will hold those responsible to the end for the cases currently underway, and we will promptly take necessary legal measures, including filing complaints, against any newly identified illegal acts in the future.”
It also stated, “Not only the original authors of malicious posts but also those who repeatedly relay or expand·reproduce them are clearly engaging in illegal acts subject to legal action,” and “Even if posts are deleted or accounts are made private or changed, legal procedures are continuing based on the evidence we have secured.”
G-Dragon, a member of Big Bang, is carrying out a 20th anniversary debut project this year. He will continue his activities with a fan event to start, a world tour, and a media exhibition announced on the 4th.
