Idols leading K-pop are having their activities put on hold due to health issues.

Reasons range from high fever symptoms to vocal fold disorders and injuries, but as comebacks, tour shows, and festivals follow one after another, the importance of health management for artists is once again coming to the fore.

Especially as record-breaking heat persists nationwide, with increases in heat-related illnesses and high-fever cases heightening vigilance about health, meticulous condition management is required for artists pushing through grueling schedules in the sweltering weather.

■ ITZY member Yuna to skip fan signing due to high fever symptoms

First, ITZY member Yuna announced that she would not attend a fan signing event due to health issues.

JYP Entertainment stated on the 30th of last month via the official fan community, “Yuna recently visited the hospital due to high fever symptoms, and a detailed internal medicine examination resulted in a diagnosis of inflammation with an opinion that inpatient treatment is necessary.”

It continued, “Yuna will not attend the fan signing event in Shenzhen, China, on August 1-2 to commemorate the release of the 12th mini album ‘Motto(Motto)’,” and added, “We will prioritize the health of the artist and do our utmost for sufficient treatment and recovery.”

This year, Yuna has been balancing group and individual activities, keeping up a nonstop schedule.

In February, ITZY kicked off its third world tour, ‘TUNNEL VISION(Tunnel Vision),’ and in May released the 12th mini album ‘Motto(Motto),’ which includes eight tracks, continuing promotions.

Additionally, in January Yuna appeared on the tvN series ‘Undercover Miss Hong’ and in July on ‘Choeaeui Sawon,’ embarking in earnest on acting. In March, she also released her first solo album, ‘Ice Cream(Ice Cream),’ demonstrating her capabilities as a solo artist.

■ ALPHA DRIVE ONE member Sanghyeon to miss schedules due to surgery for a vocal fold polyp

Sanghyeon of the boy group ALPHA DRIVE ONE is set to undergo surgery for a vocal fold polyp.

Wake One Entertainment said on the 4th, “Recently, Sanghyeon felt discomfort in his throat and visited a hospital, and the diagnosis was a vocal fold polyp for which surgical treatment is necessary.”

A vocal fold polyp is a growth that occurs when a sudden impact to the vocal folds damages the microvessels beneath the mucosa. It typically arises when the vocal folds are overused or the mucosa remains persistently dry, and because it directly affects vocalization, which is crucial for singers, sufficient rest and recovery are essential.

Accordingly, Sanghyeon will not take part in official schedules planned from the 5th to the 22nd. The agency said, “After the 22nd, following sufficient recovery and rest, activities will resume while comprehensively considering his condition,” and added, “please understand that activities requiring use of the voice may be conducted in a limited manner.”

ALPHA DRIVE ONE, the group Sanghyeon belongs to, is preparing a comeback ahead of the release of the second mini album ‘UNBREAKABLE : BEAST(UNBREAKABLE : Sonyeon Beast)’ on the 24th.

■ ONF member E-Tion to opt for live stages instead of full performances due to a shoulder injury

E-Tion of the boy group ONF has also encountered some restrictions on activities due to injury.

KI Entertainment stated on the 4th, “Following detailed examinations due to persistent shoulder pain, E-Tion was diagnosed with a partial tear of the rotator cuff.”

It continued, “In accordance with medical advice, he will minimize strenuous movement and focus on recovery,” and explained, “performances at fan events will, for the time being, be replaced with live-stage formats.”

Debuting with ONF in 2017, E-Tion serves as lead vocalist of the group. After releasing the second full-length album ‘ONF: MY SELF(ONF: My Self)’ in June, he remained highly active, but due to this injury, limits on performances are inevitable for the time being.
