As news emerged of the death of Bae In-gyu, who ran the YouTube channel ‘New Men’s Solidarity’ with about 710,000 subscribers, fellow YouTubers have been expressing their condolences one after another.

On the 5th, YouTuber Yasaengma (real name Ju Gyeong-jin) posted on his social media, saying, “New Men’s Solidarity leader Bae In-gyu passed away at the age of 36,” and shared a photo the two had taken together during his lifetime.

Yasaengma said, “In-gyu was a friend with whom we comforted each other and checked in during hard times and happy times,” adding, “We met four times just this month and talked about many things, and a few days ago he even came by the shop smiling and we chatted. I am all the more shocked and heartbroken because I never sensed any strange behavior or thoughts when we met.”

He added, “I taught him work so we could try to live well and even had a suit tailored for him, but he left before even the fitting,” expressing his emptiness.

He continued, “I know the details, but for the sake of the deceased I will share confirmed information later,” concluding, “May the deceased rest in peace.”

YouTuber Gogi Namja (real name Park Gwang-nam), who had publicly clashed with Bae in the past, also expressed his condolences on the same day through the YouTube community.

Gogi Namja stated, “Comments congratulating me over the deceased’s passing are being posted, but I am now very grief-stricken and devastated.”

He explained, “In mid-June, Mr. Bae reached out to me first and invited me to his home in Incheon, saying he wanted to meet in person and apologize,” adding, “We cleared up the misunderstandings there and let go of the feelings that remained between us.”

He urged, “Please do not consume a person’s death as someone’s victory or something to celebrate,” and, “Please refrain from mockery, insults, and baseless speculation about the deceased, and quietly mourn his final journey.”

Earlier, in 2024, Bae and Gogi Namja got into a fistfight at a boxing gym on Yeongjongdo, Incheon. At the time, Bae claimed he would release a recording related to Gogi Namja’s synthetic marijuana, and Gogi Namja countered by bringing up issues involving women and the like.

The two then brawled while live-streaming, and with Bae winning in 29 seconds, Gogi Namja was subjected to much online ridicule.

Meanwhile, around 8 a.m. on the 5th, Bae was found dead at his home on Yeongjongdo, Incheon. He was 36. No suicide note was found at the scene, and police see no signs of foul play.

During his lifetime, he ran the YouTube channel ‘New Men’s Solidarity,’ which covered anti-feminism and conservative political and social issues. However, he drew controversy for far-right-leaning activities, such as participating in rallies opposing the impeachment of former President Yoon Suk-yeol, and for harsh language and behavior, and in May last year he was investigated by police on suspicion of using methamphetamine at a motel in Jung-gu, Incheon.

After news of Bae’s passing became known, a range of reactions has continued online alongside mourning.
