Megabox has unveiled the August lineup for its exclusive-screening brand ‘Mega Only (MEGA ONLY)’ and the films to be shown in the animation showcase at its Hongdae branch.
In August, ‘Mega Only’ is programmed for the theater-cation season with selections that deliver overwhelming live presence and emotional immersion to make you forget the heat. The scheduled titles total three: ▲ aespa Live Tour -SYNK : COMPLæXITY- ▲ Warfare ▲ Given The Movie - To the Sea.
On the 7th, ‘aespa Live Tour -SYNK : Complexity- (aespa LIVE TOUR -SYNK : COMPLæXITY-)’ will be broadcast live to announce girl group aespa’s new world tour. This live viewing, which will provide a more immersive concert experience by presenting performances embodying aespa’s distinctive universe in crisp 4K visuals and multidimensional sound, will be screened at Megabox Guui East Pole, Mokdong, Sangam World Cup Stadium, and COEX, with postcards given to attendees. In particular, at the Guui East Pole, Mokdong, and Sangam World Cup Stadium locations, it will present, for the first time in theaters, a live viewing that applies AI spatial audio technology.
On the 19th, the hyper-realistic war film ‘Warfare’, which throws viewers into the heart of battle, opens. ‘Warfare’, which depicts in real time a true account of the 2006 Battle of Ramadi in Iraq, is a project that unites the well-made Hollywood studio A24 and director Alex Garland. Former U.S. Navy SEAL Ray Mendoza participated as co-writer and director, and rising Hollywood stars Joseph Quinn, Charles Melton, Will Poulter, and Kit Connor heightened the realism with their commitment, even entering an actual Navy SEAL training facility.
On the 26th, ‘Given The Movie – To the Sea’, which tells the final story of a popular animated series, opens. ‘Given The Movie – To the Sea’ portrays the love and friendship of the members of the band ‘Given’, who have come to understand one another through music. As it centers on the members’ stories, its tender melodies convey depths of feeling that words can hardly express, and its sensuous mise-en-scne amplifies the appeal of this poignant, radiant tale.
At the Hongdae branch, which was renewed as the first animation-specialized location among domestic multiplexes, a special showcase will be held. From August 10 to 16, screenings will include ‘Gintama New Theatrical Feature: Yoshiwara Inferno’, noted for overwhelming artwork and thrilling action sequences, and entries that expand the Mobile Suit Gundam universe, ‘Mobile Suit Gundam Jikuax Beginning’ and ‘Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM’.
Then from the 17th, audiences can catch the youth fantasy romance that tugs at the heart, ‘The Tunnel to Summer, the Exit of Goodbyes’, and the feature compilation with an addictive OST, ‘Theatrical Feature: Given_Hairagi Mix’. Depending on the title, viewing perks such as signed illustration boards and posters will be offered.
