Martin of CORTIS made his first network variety show appearance, continuing to showcase his charm from fashion sense to dance challenges and delivering a cheerful performance.
CORTIS leader Martin appeared on the August 5 episode of MBC's Radio Star, a special titled "Between Fashion and Passion, I'm So Hip~". Even though it was his first try on a network variety show, he went with the flow with bright energy. While offering a 90-degree bow to show courtesy, he said, "It's time to start the 'Martin Boom'", exuding rookie bravado.
Known for his trendy styling, he also showed exceptional fashion sense that day. He found common ground with fellow guest, actor Choi Won-young, over their shared interest in vintage, and the two swapped upcycled pieces and staged an impromptu fashion show. He introduced MC Yoo Se-yoon to sagging fashion, wearing pants low, turning the studio into a sea of laughter.
His tall height and distinctive physique also drew attention. Recalling his attendance at Paris Men's Fashion Week in France this July, he said, "After I went to the show and put on the clothes, the size fit me perfectly, so I liked it." He then flawlessly pulled off dance challenges for the debut album's intro track 'GO!' and the second mini album's title track 'REDRED' with crisp, confident moves.
He also showed an unexpected side. Martin belted out Jannabi's song 'For Lovers Who Hesitate', drawing gasps. In contrast to the raw energy that has sparked mass sing-alongs at recent tour stops and at the U.S. music festival Lollapalooza Chicago, his lyrical tone, filled with boyish charm, stood out.
He also shared the co-creation backstory of CORTIS, the young creator crew that has emerged as a global trend. On the process of making 'REDRED', which created a sensation at home and abroad, Martin said, "I mostly worked on the melody line and wrote the entire first-verse lyrics," beaming with pride. He added, "The five members put their heads together and work all together as if one person were doing it."
CORTIS opened the 2026 CORTIS TOUR <PUT YOUR PHONE DOWN> IN NORTH AMERICA in Toronto, Canada, on the 4th (local time). Through the 16th, they will visit six North American cities, including New York and San Francisco in the United States. They will then play the tour's Seoul dates at Korea University's Hwajeong Gymnasium on August 22-23. As a performance titled 'BIRTHDAY PARTY' to mark the first anniversary of their debut, it is drawing even greater anticipation.
