"I felt the stature of K-dramas"
Actor Moon Hee-kyung has appeared in the Korea-Taiwan (Republic of China) co-produced period drama "Goodbye 1987".
"Goodbye 1987" is a period drama co-produced by the Taiwanese-language channel of Taiwan's public broadcaster PTS and Korea, depicting the story of two families over half a century and the conflicts of the times across Taiwan and Korea. It is set against major periods in modern East Asian history, from Japanese rule in the 1940s to the Nationalist government's relocation to Taiwan, the 1950 Korean War, Taiwan's martial law in the 1960s, and Korea's April 19 Revolution.
Moon Hee-kyung plays Kim Eun-suk, portraying the character's middle years as first played by Lee Yu-bi. She delicately conveys the character's complex emotions as she quietly endures life amid turbulent times, and is expected to heighten the drama's immersion.
Moon Hee-kyung also took part in singing for the "Goodbye 1987" OST, presenting a special collaboration with a Taiwanese female singer. Following her acting, she adds strength to the project through music as well, further underscoring the significance of the Korea-Taiwan co-production.

Regarding working with the Taiwanese crew, Moon said, "I was surprised that the Taiwanese staff prepared everything with remarkable thoroughness. In particular, because it is a period drama, the costumes had to be rigorously authenticated, and the team brought all the costumes from Taiwan to Korea so the actors could do fittings themselves before shooting," adding, "The Taiwanese crew spoke a bit of Korean here and there. They said they learned Korean by watching Korean dramas. That's when I truly felt the stature of K-dramas."
"Goodbye 1987" held a special screening at the Taipei Film Festival and will premiere on the 30th on Taiwan's PTS Taiwanese-language channel. As for release in Korea, discussions are currently underway regarding a domestic broadcast platform.
