“Turn my wound into a beautiful ‘mark’, not a scar”

The idol group &TEAM has released the trailer for their second Korean mini album, ‘Mark on Me’. The nine members’ confessions, intersecting across four languages, build anticipation for an expanded ‘wolf DNA’.

&TEAM (Ui-ju, Huma, Kei, Nicholas, Yuma, Jo, Harua, Taki, Maki) unveiled the trailer, ‘Trailer : The First Mark’, for ‘Mark on Me’ on the HYBE LABELS YouTube channel at 6 p.m. on the 5th. The video sensuously portrays boys who, bound by long-held wounds and having locked themselves inside a massive block of ice, become free upon meeting ‘you’, who accepts even those traces just as they are.

The video opens with Ui-ju’s Korean narration, “I hid it because everyone thought it was a wound.” Then, along with the confession, “You were the first to read my wound,” the touch of ‘you’ slowly tracing the scar is depicted. The calm voices of the nine members, continuing in four languages including Korean and Japanese, offer a deeper sense of immersion.

The turning point of the story comes when the ice melts. As the members share their breath and embrace one another, the once-solid ice slowly collapses. At last, the sight of them swimming through a space filled with water conveys a sense of liberation from the shackles of their wounds.

At the end of the video, the scene where a beautiful ‘Mark’ appears where the scar had been penetrates the message of this new release. It suggests that the wound has not simply vanished, but upon meeting ‘you’, who read it as a special pattern, it has gained new meaning. This compresses the narrative of the album title, ‘Mark on Me’, showing that two beings leave traces on each other that will not be forgotten.

&TEAM’s expressive power also stands out. From anxious, trembling gazes, to expressions that lower their guard at a partner’s touch, to fluid movements after being freed from the ice, the nine members’ restrained acting delicately captures the boys’ transformation, adding persuasiveness to the story and leaving a lingering resonance.

If the prologue video released on the 2nd, ‘The Wolf Who Loved Red’, unfolded the tale of a wolf tamed by love like a warm fairy tale, this trailer focuses on why the wolf willingly opened his heart to one person. The two videos, with contrasting moods, are organically connected, heralding &TEAM’s expanded ‘wolf DNA’ narrative.
